HCE Policies

ACCESSIBILITY Hibbing Public Schools do not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its programs, services, or activities. If you need assistance or special services, please notify the HCE office when you register (call 218-208-0852).

CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION If applicable, certificates are available from your instructor upon successful completion of a course. Please request in advance.

COURSE ADMISSION Generally, adult courses are open to individuals 18 years or older. Classes will not be prorated. Residents of other communities are encouraged and welcome to enroll in courses.

SUPERVISION Children not involved in activities are not permitted in school buildings unless properly supervised. Adults involved in evening classes should not bring their children.

COURSE CONFIRMATIONS We send course confirmations if you register online and we’ll contact you if there are any changes.

DROP-OFF, PICK-UP Unsupervised children shall NOT be dropped off or arrive more than 10 minutes prior to the start of class, and need to be pick-up within 10 minutes of the conclusion of class. Failure to adhere to these timelines may result in your child being removed from the class.

ENROLLMENT Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You are officially enrolled once we receive your completed registration form and payment, as long as there is still space available. Please register early so you won’t miss out!

PARKING Parking is available on neighborhood streets and school parking lots (after school hours); please pay attention to all official street signs, as parking laws are enforced.

PHOTO POLICY Hibbing Community Education or local media will occasionally photograph, film, or interview those involved in our programs for the purposes of publicity. If you (or your child) do NOT want to be included in these communications, please contact the Community Education office at (218) 208-0852.

SMOKING/TOBACCO Smoking, tobacco use, and vapping is prohibited in all district facilities and on school grounds.

SUPPLIES Materials fees and food fees are included in the tuition unless so stated. Food and supply fees are non-refundable.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS If Hibbing public schools are cancelled or close before 2 pm during the day due to inclement weather; Community Education classes will be cancelled also. “No School” announcements are generally made before 6 am. Please see Hibbing Public Schools website for more information (Inclement Weather). Please use your judgment, sense, and caution while driving in Iron Range winter weather! Definitions of :“Warning”, “Watch”, and “Advisory”.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS Full refunds are given when a class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Participants need to contact the Community Education Office at least five business days before class begins to receive a full refund.  Generally,  NO REFUNDS are made after the first session, unless extenuating circumstances exist AND when agreed upon by the director.  Refunds will NOT be granted to students who are withdrawn from a course as a result of failure to comply with district and/or community education policies.
